Additional Information


Wolf Rilla's Village of the Damned, and several bowl shaped high-albedo craters during Full Moon (staring eyes)

  • Do you remember that rare black-and-white movie of 1960 in which a group of super intelligent (alien) children created havoc in an English village? Those children had very frightful looking eyes (the mesmerizing white iris effect). The same phenomenon (that white iris effect) is noticeable on the moon at the region depicted above. Bowl shaped high-albedo craters such as Hipparchus C' (in the distinct Halley-'Hind row of four) shows this staring eye effect very well, especially during Full Moon. The inner slopes of such bowl-shaped craters have a very high albedo, while their floors are sort of medium grey, very much like the staring eyes of the super intelligent (alien) children in Wolf Rilla's Village of the Damned. Children who were watching television in those days (the sixties) were afraid to go to sleep, because of those alien eyes! (me too! - DannyCaes DannyCaes Dec 22, 2015).
