Photographic Map

Nearside Named Features

  • Athinagoras (F.C.Lamech's disallowed name for Geminus A, southwest of Geminus itself).
  • Beals
  • Bernoulli
  • Berosus (Van Langren's Leototi).
  • Boss
  • Burckhardt (Van Langren's Barreae, J.Hewelcke's Montes Riphaei).
  • Gauss
  • Geminus (Van Langren's Edelherii, J.Hewelcke's Montes Riphaei).
  • Hahn (Van Langren's Grassi).
  • Lacus Spei (formerly known as Mare Struve, and before that: Struve) (J.Hewelcke's Lacus Hyperboreus Inferior).
  • Mare Incognito (a disallowed name from H.P.Wilkins for a so-called mare region beyond Gauss, only observable during favorable libration).
  • Mare Trans Hahn (a disallowed name from J.H.Franz for a mare-like region beyond Hahn).
  • Messala (the area at or near Messala was called Montes Amadoci by J.Hewelcke).
  • Promontorium Archidaeum (W.R.Birt's disallowed name for a promontory-like formation between Berzelius and Geminus).
  • Riemann
  • Schumacher
  • Terra Sapientiae (Van Langren's disallowed name for the whole of Chart 16).
  • Terra Vitae (Riccioli's discontinued name for the whole of Chart 16).
  • Timoleon (discontinued IAU name).
  • Zeno

It should be noted that in this northeastern limb region H.P.Wilkins introduced several disallowed names; Hallowes, Liddiard, Paluzie, Polit.

Farside Named Features

(The following features are not formally included in the present Rükl rectangle, but they are adjacent to it and their centers are less than 10° beyond the mean limb -- so they may be seen here in whole or in part with a favorable libration)
