- Daly was captured on Apollo 17's panoramic ITEK-camera frames AS17-P-2923 and AS17-P-2928. To detect Daly on these frames, one should scroll all the way toward the right margins (of both frames). Daly is the pronounced crater with the dark "lake" to the right (for Daly's "lake"; see Additional Information below).

- Westfall, 2000: 2.86 km
- A small low-albedo region (a "lake") immediately north-northeast of Daly doesn't seem to have an official name. The exact location of this dark region is: 6°20' North/ 59°45' East (coordinates according to page 124 (LAC 62) in B.Bussey's and P.Spudis's Clementine Atlas).- DannyCaes DannyCaes Apr 26, 2011
Nomenclature
- Named for Reginald Aldworth Daly (1871-1957), a Canadian-born American geologist. Daly was an early proponent of the impact theory of the Moon's origin.
- This replacement name for a formerly lettered crater was introduced on LTO-62D2 (May, 1974), for which it served as the chart title. It is listed on that chart as "a new name approved by the IAU." Although Daly appears in the cumulative list of approved names in IAU Transactions XVB (1973), it is not clear precisely when and where it was approved, nor is the honoree explicitly designated. Biographical information was unofficially reported in Ashbrook, 1974. - JimMosher JimMosher
- In the small lunar atlas Moon, Mars, and Venus (the first edition of the well-known "Rukl")(Antonin Rukl, Hamlyn) the name Daly was printed at the location of Apollonius A; a crater west-southwest of Apollonius P (the IAU's Daly). The large edition of Rukl's moonatlas (with the khaki-colored charts) shows the name Daly at the correct location. - DannyCaes DannyCaes Apr 27, 2011
