Apollo 15 AS15-M-1556. The Zirkel Ridge is at center right, with Dorsum Heim snaking along the terminator to its upper left. The prominent shadow-casting peak to the lower left of Dorsum Zirkel is Mons La Hire. The shadow along the right margin is part of the Apollo spacecraft from which this north-looking oblique view was taken.

Because the southern (southeastern) extension of Dorsum Zirkel is running across craters La Hire A and La Hire B (see upper margin of Rukl's chart 20), all orbital Apollo photographs of that part of Dorsum Zirkel should be online in the LPI's lists of La Hire A and La Hire B. - DannyCaes Aug 20, 2011
Ferdinand Zirkel (March 20, 1838 – June 12, 1912) was a German geologist and petrographer. He became professor of mineralogy and geology in the University of Leipzig. The mineral zirkelite is named after him.
