LPOD Photo Gallery Lunar Orbiter Images Apollo Images (the mentioned Apollo photograph (AS12-54-8107) doesn't show Maestlin G, it's off-screen due west (left) of the frame's upper left corner) - DannyCaes DannyCaes Feb 18, 2014
- The "binary system" of bowl-shaped craterlets Maestlin G was captured on Apollo 12's orbital Hasselblad AS12-54-8109. This photograph also shows Apollo Landing Site 5, slightly southeast of Maestlin G.
- The doublet Maestlin G is also detectable on chart 27 in the 21st Century Atlas of the Moon (Wood/ Collins), at location H-8/9 (very near the chart's lower right corner).
- Close ups of Maestlin G were made by Lunar Orbiter 2, of which Frame 2197 shows the couple at centre of the photograph.
- Much more close ups of Maestlin G were made by Lunar Orbiter 3, of which Frame 3161 shows an oblique look at the pair.
- Research Lunar Orbiter 2, Lunar Orbiter 3, and Apollo 12 photography, and chart 27 (21st Century Atlas): Danny Caes

Nomenclature
Michael; German mathematician (1550-1631).
- This name was originally introduced as Möstlin by Schmidt (Whitaker, p. 224), and adopted in the original IAU nomenclature as Moestlin. Kuiper thought the name could be confused with Mösting and decided to change the spelling in his Photographic Lunar Atlas. His revised spelling (the current form) was approved by the IAU in 1961 (along with most of his other proposed changes). - JimMosher JimMosher
- Binary System (Danny Caes's nickname for the couple of bowl-shaped craters Maestlin G).
