- A pair of good eyes could detect the presence of crater Gum on several frames of Apollo 15's south-looking Fairchild mapping/metric camera in Revolution 71. It is quite a task to describe the pinpoint location of Gum on these oblique frames (Gum is located very near the curved horizon). I suppose one should try to locate the position of Gum by exploring the first 20 or so frames in REV 71.- DannyCaes DannyCaes Aug 29, 2010

  • Although it appears in the cumulative list of approved names in IAU Transactions XVB (1973), it is not clear precisely when and where the name Gum was approved. It does not appear to replace any previous IAU-approved designation for this feature. - JimMosher JimMosher
