Named for Hendrik Anthony Kramers (February 2, 1894 – April 24, 1952), a Dutch physicist. Niels Bohr took him on as a PhD student and Kramers prepared his dissertation under Bohr's direction (on intensities of atomic transitions).
This name entered the IAU nomenclature in Menzel, 1971.
On Antonin Rükl's 1972 Reidel - Dordrecht farside map, Kramers C is labeled Coulomb. - DannyCaes Jun 25, 2010
