Description

Originally established in 1961 as the Manned Spacecraft Center, [/NASA NASA]'s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, has served as the headquarters for American efforts directed towards manned exploration of space, including the [/Apollo%20program Apollo] Moon program. The original photographs returned by that project are archived there, and it continues to be the main center for study of the Apollo lunar samples (Moon rocks).
