  • IAU page: Hildegard
  • Not only was this crater adopted into the lunar nomenclature by the IAU on 25 Feb 2016, the crater within its northwest sector (formerly known as Pikel'ner K) was replaced with the name Hildegard K (see image below).

Nomenclature

  • Hildegard von Bingen (or: Hildegard of Bingen); German writer, composer, mystic and visionary. In Germany she is considered the founder of the scientific study of natural history (1098 - 1179).
