Fesenkov, one of the most difficult craters to detect on orbital Apollo photographs, was captured on AS17-M-1574, which is one of the oblique southward looking Fairchild-camera frames made during Apollo 17. In this frame, the location of Fesenkov is near the central part of the curved horizon. Southern companion Stark is much nearer to the horizon. The question if the much more southern crater Subbotin (south of Stark) is also detectable in this frame remains somewhat unanswered.

A high-albedo craterlet near the central part of Fesenkov's floor could be some sort of guide to try to locate Fesenkov on shadowless Clementine photographs.- DannyCaes DannyCaes Aug 6, 2013
