Description
The Lunar Section of the BAA is both one of the oldest and one of the most famous amateur organizations devoted to lunar observing. It is particularly noted for its long history of encouraging meticulous drawings at the eyepiece. The Lunar Section, prior to Apollo, had as director a long series of famous selenographers including Thomas Gwyn [/Elger Elger], Walter [/Goodacre Goodacre], T L [/McDonald MacDonald], Hugh Percy [/Wilkins Wilkins], Ewen [/Ewen%20Whitaker Whitaker], Gilbert Fielder, Brian Warner, and Patrick Moore. All of these (except Warner) have written books about the Moon and the first four have lunar craters named in their honor.
