Additional Information
- Area of floor mare 2400 km2 and Imbrian age. 4.5-5.5 wt% FeO and 1-3 wt% TiO2. Dark halo crater excavates buried mare material (Gillis and Spudis, 1996)
Nomenclature
- This name entered the IAU nomenclature in the long list of farside names published in Menzel, 1971. The citation indicates the name honors two men:
- Leon Campbell; American astronomer (1881-1951)
- William Wallace Campbell; American astronomer (1862-1938).
- W. W. Campbell was the 1915 Bruce Medalist of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, and extensive links to information about him can be found there.

Note:
The first article in this list was written by W.W.Campbell, the fifth article was written by a Philip M. Campbell. The other articles have certain Campbells in them, it would be interesting to know who they really were (or still are). - DannyCaes DannyCaes Apr 11, 2015
