Nomenclature

  • Named for Andre Lallemand (1904-1978), a French astronomer noted for his work in the application of photomultipliers to astronomical research.
  • According to [/Whitaker Whitaker] (p. 236), this name was introduced in [/NASA%20RP-1097 NASA RP-1097] (a non-IAU publication). It was approved "as assigned" in [/IAU%20Transactions%20XIXB IAU Transactions XIXB] (1985). When and by whom it was called [/Kopff Kopff] A is unclear.
