LO-IV-114H Feuillée is in the upper left, with Beer to its southeast. The 4-km crater to the northeast of Beer is Beer A. The chain of craterlets extending out of the frame to the right was once known as Fossa Archimedes (mentioned on the Lunar Topographic Orthophotomap), it should be called Catena Beer.

- None of Apollo 15's orbital panoramic ITEK-camera photographs of Feuillée (written correctly as Feuillée) are mentioned in the LPI's list, such as AS15-P-10222 which shows Feuillée pretty well! (near the frame's right margin).

Additional Information

  • Depth data from Kurt Fisher database
    • Arthur, 1974: 1.82 km
    • Westfall, 2000: 1.89 km
    • Viscardy, 1985: 1.81 km
  • From the shadows in LO-IV-114H, Beer is 1660-1700 m deep. The east rim of Feuillée has a maximum height of 1840 m above the floor. - Jim Mosher

Nomenclature

  • Named for Louis Éconches Feuillée (sometimes spelled Feuillet) (1660-April 18, 1732), a French explorer, astronomer, geographer, and botanist.
  • There seems to exist an atmospheric halo phenomenon of radius 35 degrees, called Feuillée's halo.- DannyCaes May 31, 2014
  • See Beer: the two craters may once have been known jointly as "Beer and Mädler". (why was it not accepted by the IAU? - DannyCaes May 31, 2014).
