Names on the moon and on Mars
Names on the moon and on Mars
This page shows all the names of craters and other surface formations which are twice mentioned; on maps of the moon and on maps of planet Mars.
It (the page itself) is an online spin-off of a research project which started in the beginning of the year 2003, when Mars was about to perform its "super-opposition" (the very small distance Earth-Mars). In those days I wanted to know everything about the nomenclature of Martian craters and their locations on Mars's surface. By the end of 2003 (the start of 2004) the "Mars wave" was over and I lost interest, until the winter of 2010... I re-discovered my research papers, and suddenly there was this idea to create an alphabetic list of names which are printed on both lunar and Martian maps/ atlases/ globes.
The result is what you see here (several additions and corrections shall be included within days or weeks, or perhaps months).
