Additional Information
- Crater counts yield mare ages of 3.27 and 3.48 b.y. Haruyama, J. and others, 2008.
- Is there a concentric crater southeast of Maksutov? (located slightly southwest of the center between Maksutov and White). So it looks on the photographic version of LAC 120 in the Clementine Atlas, and also on the LRO's ACT-REACT Quick Map. The coordinates of this possible concentric crater are: 165 degrees West/ 43.5 degrees South.- DannyCaes DannyCaes Jun 6, 2011
Nomenclature
- Named for Dmitrij Dmitrievich Maksutov (1896-1964), a Soviet optician and astronomer best known for his popular and innovative telescope design employing all spherical elements.
- Maksutov was in the long list of IAU-approved farside names published in Menzel, 1971.
