Nomenclature

  • Named for Sir Arthur Evans (1851-1941), a British archaeologist.
  • Evans was introduced to the IAU nomenclature in Menzel, 1971.
  • This crater could also honour the NASA astronaut Ronald Ellwin Evans, who was the Command Module Pilot (CMP) of Apollo 17. Ronald Evans died in 1990. - DannyCaes Nov 17, 2013
