Description
This popular observer's guide to the Moon by H. Percy Wilkins and Patrick Moore, first published in 1955, was widely read by amateur lunar observers in the latter half of the 20th century. Unless otherwise qualified, references to it in this Wiki are to the 1961 Second Edition.

- The great bulk of the book consists of detailed descriptions of the features depicted on the maps (much in the manner of Neison, 1876 and Elger, 1895, but in addition to its Introduction it contains several useful appendices. These include a chapter on lunar photography (on film, of course) by Ewen Whitaker, a comprehensive list of lunar maps from 1610-1960, a list of new (non IAU-approved) names that appear on the Wilkins' map, and short biographies of some of the most notable lunar observers of the past.
