(IAU Directions) OERSTED.--An oblong formation with very low walls, scarcely traceable on the S.W., except when near the terminator. There is a conspicuous crater on the N.E. side of the floor, and a curious square enclosure, with a crater on its E. border, abutting on the N.W. wall.

Hans Christian Ørsted (August 14, 1777 – March 9, 1851) was a Danish physicist and chemist, influenced by the thinking of Immanuel Kant. He is best known for discovering the relationship between electricity and magnetism known as electromagnetism.
