Nomenclature

Harutaro; Japanese physicist, astronomer (1872-1947).
  • According to Whitaker (p. 236), this replacement name for a formerly lettered crater was introduced in NASA RP-1097. It was approved by the IAU in 1991 (IAU Transactions XXIA).
  • Mariotte Y (Murakami) was once known as Egnitis or Eginitis. This name was printed on the farside map made by Antonin Rukl, and also on the Hallwag map made by Hans Schwarzenbach.- DannyCaes Jun 20, 2010
