Mensae (table-mountain like elevations)

Note: the following are all unofficial names proposed by Danny Caes. The IAU uses different categories of feature type on different planetary bodies. At present, the IAU uses the descriptor term "Mensae" only on Mars and on Jupiter's satellite Io. It is not used on the Moon.

Dembowski Mensa
- The plateau at 2° North/ 8°20' East (southeast of Dembowski) was photographed in close-up by Lunar Orbiter 1 (Frame 1103 med). It would be interesting to know if this plateau received an official IAU name, or an unofficial name, or perhaps... a nickname. Antonin Rukl mentioned that plateau on page 94 of his atlas (map 34). Danny Caes calls this plateau Dembowski Mensa (the table-mountain near Dembowski).

Fourier A
- Shows something on the western part of its floor which could be related to table-mountain like elevations, see LROC WAC: http://bit.ly/1wVIo8r

Mare Orientale Mensae
- A quick look at the LRO's online ACT-REACT Quick Map of the Mare Orientale region reveals lots of large flat table-mountain like elevations at the near-central part of this basin.

Sinus Successus Mensae
- Lunar Orbiter 1's Frame 033 reveals two curious plateau-like elevations (mensae) in Sinus Successus. The large elevation is located at 1°10' North/ 55°25' East. The small one at 0°35' North/ 55°30' East.
- Is the larger one of the two, which looks rather dark on Lunar Orbiter 1's Frame 033, of the same nature as the low-albedo elevation Mons Moro in the western part of Mare Cognitum, and the small dark hillock near the Nicollet Psi ridge? (which is depicted near the lower left corner of Lunar Orbiter 4's Frame 113-h2).
- There might be another one of these Mons Moro like formations northeast of Fourier C (south of de Gasparis), see LROC WAC: http://bit.ly/1G9h2kb

C. Herschel Epsilon
- The table-mountain like hillock C. Herschel Epsilon at 35° North/ 35°50' West (west-northwest of the bowl-shaped crater C. Herschel E) is noticeable near the upper margin of Lunar Orbiter 4's Frame 145-h1, and also near the centre of Apollo 15's orbital Hasselblad photograph AS15-93-12710.

West of Doppelmayer J in the central part of Mare Humorum
- There's a curious irregular mensa-like elevation west of Doppelmayer J, which is the southern one of the three bowl-shaped craters in the central part of Mare Humorum (Doppelmayer J, K, L). One of the magnificent Hi-Res post-sunrise photographs of the Mare Humorum region made by Christian Viladrich shows that curious mensa-like elevation as some sort of shallow rimless depression (a veritable "trompe l'oeil" effect!).
