Head and Gifford: Lunar mare domes - Classification and modes of origin

(glossary entry)

Description

Extensive list of probable and suspected domes identified on Lunar Orbiter and Apollo photos.

Additional Information

  • Lunar surface features tend to become invisible when the sun angle exceeds the surface slopes. As a result, despite their excellent spatial resolution, only relatively steep-walled domes are likely to be detectable in most satellite photos (taken with moderately high sun). - JimMosher
