  • Although there's nothing mentioned in the LPI's searchlist for orbital Apollo-photographs of Luther, this crater WAS photographed by the oblique north-looking Fairchild mapping/metric camera of Apollo 15.
  • One of those Fairchild frames is AS15-M-1526, which shows Luther immediately below the uppermost (central) part of the curved horizon. The small bowl-shaped crater in the very centre of this frame is Sarabhai (Bessel A).
  • Careful investigation of this frame's close up (of AS15-M-1526) reveals some sort of small dark spot or dark streak north-northeast of Luther itself. The coordinates of this spot (or streak) are: 34°45' North/ 24°50' East. It (this small dark presence) is also noticeable on LAC 26 (page 52) in the Clementine Atlas of the Moon.
  • The upper-left corner of the LPI's Hi-Res scan of Lunar Orbiter 4's LOIV-086-h1 reveals a small curved (rille-like) depression at the location of the above mentioned small dark spot or streak (north-northeast of Luther). This rille-like depression is surrounded by dark material. See also LOIV-091-h1 (near the right part of the frame's upper margin).
  • Apollo 17's orbital Hasselblad camera photograph AS17-153-23508 might be the only color photograph of Luther made during Project Apollo (Luther is noticeable near the frame's lower margin). Hi-Res scan from Kipp Teague's Flickr gallery.

  • Luther Alpha (hill west of Luther itself) (see Chart 20 in the Times Atlas of the Moon).
  • Rimae Luther H (D.Caes' name for the criss-cross looking system of rilles southwest of Luther H, on the southern part of C.A.Wood's Lost Peninsula).

Lost Peninsula

  • North-northwest of Luther is the location of Luther H, a small bowl shaped crater surrounded by a mass of rough looking terra, nicknamed Lost Peninsula by Charles A. Wood, see LPOD 14 December 2014.
