Nomenclature

Kurt Heinrich; German physicist (1908-1983).
  • This name was added to the IAU nomenclature in IAU Transactions XXIVB (2000).
  • During the hey-days of Project Apollo, the nomenclature of the moon's farside looked quite different, in such a way that the crater officially known as Vavilov was called Debus because of the first manned circumlunar mission of Apollo 8 in december 1968. See also the page NASA named craters on the equatorial zone of the moon's farside. - DannyCaes Sep 11, 2015
