Nomenclature
- Named for Annie Jump Cannon (December 11, 1863 – April 13, 1941), an American astronomer whose cataloging work was instrumental in the development of contemporary stellar classification. With Edward C. Pickering, she is credited with the creation of the Harvard Classification Scheme, which was the first serious attempt to organize and classify stars based on their temperatures.
- The name Alhazen F was introduced in Neison, 1876 and appears as Catalog Number 25 in Mary Blagg's Collated List as well as in the original IAU nomenclature of Named Lunar Formations (1935).
- The replacement name Cannon was proposed by Arthur and Whitaker in the Rectified Lunar Atlas (1963) and approved by IAU in 1964.
- List of features named for women.
